The Emil Fischer Award

The Emil Fischer Carbohydrate Award has been established in 2008 by the European Carbohydrate Organization in order to honor active carbohydrate scientists distinguished with contributions of excellence.

Criteria

The laureate shall be an active worker in carbohydrate research, distinguished with contributions of excellence. The Emil Fischer Carbohydrate Award is a prize with no limit on age. It is presented at each EUROCARB Symposium (every two years). The prize money is 5.000 Euro.

Nominations

Nominations for the award can be submitted by the national ECO representatives.

Committee

The ECO Selection Committee for the Emil Fischer Carbohydrate Award consists of the President, the immediate Past President, the President-elect and the Secretary, and of three additional members. The President acts as Chairman of the Selection Committee and is responsible for appointing the additional members, receiving nominations and conducting the selection process.
